Veterinary assistants and laboratory animal caretakers look after animals in laboratories, animal hospitals, and clinics. Veterinary technologists and technicians perform medical tests under the supervision of a licensed veterinarian to assist in diagnosing the injuries and illnesses of animals. Veterinary technicians must complete an associates program in veterinary technology. Technologists need a 4-year bachelors degree, and technicians need a 2-year associate's degree. The median annual wage for veterinary technologists and technicians was $31,800 in May 2015. Employment opportunities are projected to grow 19% from 2015 to 2025, much faster than the average for all occupations.
In 2015, there were 231 veterinary technology programs accredited by the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA). Most states require veterinary technicians to pass the Veterinary Technician National Examination (VTNE), offered by the American Association of Veterinary State Boards. For technologists seeking work in a research facility, the American Association for Laboratory Animal Science (AALAS) offers the following certifications for technicians and technologists: Laboratory Animal Technician (LAT) and Laboratory Animal Technologist (LATG). Occupational Therapist Assistant
Occupational therapy assistants and aides help patients develop, recover, and are directly involved in providing therapy to patients. Occupational therapy assistants need an associate's degree from an accredited program. There are roughly 200 occupational therapy assistant programs accredited by the Accreditation Council for Occupational Therapy Education, a branch of the American Occupational Therapy Association. These programs generally require 2 years of full-time study and include instruction in subjects such as psychology, biology, and pediatric health. In addition to taking coursework, occupational therapy assistants must complete at least 16 weeks of fieldwork to gain hands-on work experience.
Licensure requires the completion of all fieldwork requirements, and passing the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT) exam, in order to use the title Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA). The median annual wage for occupational therapy assistants and aides was $54,520 in May 2015. Employment of occupational therapy assistants and aides is projected to grow 40 percent over the next 10 years, a fast-growing field with good opportunities, according to the US Bureau of Labor Statistics.

Financial Aid Information
Government scholarships and Pell grant applications, combined with academic scholarships, only account for a third of total college aid. Student loans, work-study earnings, and personal savings make up the remaining two-thirds. The official FAFSA website is www.fafsa.ed.gov and is free to use. The earliest that the FAFSA form can be filled out is January of a student's senior year. The IRS suggests that parents maintain accurate financial statements, including tax forms and business records, for use when applying for student financial aid.
Student loans typically have variable interest rates while federal student loans have fixed rates. Financial aid may be administered through Essex County College billing. High school grades are the most important factor in gaining admission to the college of your choice, along with letters of recommendation. According to Cerritos College summer schedule, an ideal academic record consists of a high GPA in courses of progressive difficulty. Peterson's scholarship search is good to check not only for college scholarships, but also for the extensive resources on the college application process. Some scholarships have a bond requirement. Recipients may be required to work for a specified period of time or to work in rural or remote areas.
